Japanese Old Daikokuten God Clay Figure
This clay figure, 'tsuchi-ningyo', is the image of Daikokuten who is one of Seven Gods of Fotune (Hichifukujin). Daikokuten is traditionally considered as a god of wealth and prosperity and is also regarded as the god of household, particularly in the kitchen. This figure possesses a warm and peaceful atmosphere and the god is standing on the top of two rice barrels. The interior of the figure is hollow and there is a small piece of ceramic ball inside to create a rustically charming sound. Ca. Early to Mid 1900s. Dimensions: 4 3/4"high 3"wide
