SOLD Thank you!
This rare Japanese smoking "tray", tobacco-bon, is stylistically very similar to hibachi brazier. The rectangular-shape chest has an iron 'hi-ire' (brazier) for lighting tobacco on pipe while the bamboo tube is used as an ash-tray. At the bottom, there are two small drawers with handsome hand-crafted iron pulls. The tobacco-bon is made from keyaki (zelkova) wood and kiri (paulownia) wood. There is also a written record from the original owner on the back. According to the writing it was made approximately around May, 1859 by Kichibei. The interior pieces are removable and this piece could be used as a small organizer as well. Dimensions: 17"w 9 1/2"d 7 1/2"h
