A rare and large sculpture, depicting a lady carrying a vase on her back and holding a lingzhi in her hand. She is accompanied by a Qilin. Both figures are standing on a stylized rock along streaming water. I don't know the exact iconography of this figure, any suggestions are welcome. As it's often the case with Ming bronzes this piece has some casting flaws and/or damages. For example on top of the lingzhi, the fingers of the lady and the mouthrim of the vase...

Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This fine example is from Tibet or possibly from Nepal. It is well proportioned and has very nice facial features. Please note the fine engraving on the back of the figure. Virabhadra, incarnation of Shiva, is often depicted in solid bronze plaques. This one however is remarkably fine, with its delicate openwork. It dates from the 16th century, possibly earlier and was made in West India. It has a warm brown patina and appropriate age wear. There is a very old repair just above the small figure on the left. Height 26 cm (the sculpture), 32 cm including the stand.
