A magnificent and rare figure of a fat lady made of painted terracotta. Fat ladies are among the most famous objects of the Tang Dynasty (618-906) and they are a wellknown symbol of wealth.H. 31 cm. Condition: no traces of repairs are visible, most of the original colour is still present.

The figures 19,5 cm tall, the sedan chair 22,5 cm tall (including the detachable roof knob). This group was excavated in the southeast of the Shanxi Province. It is very hard to find big groups like this. Condition: expected age wear, a chip to the inside of the front of the sedan chair, some glaze chips, but all pieces without repairs.
