Uchida Koichi(b.1969) is one of today's 'buzz potters' here in Japan. At a past exhibition in Odawara, folks were reaching over shoulders to grab works in the first few mad minutes. His works have been seen at many solo, group and museum exhibitions here in Japan. In a recent issue of TOHSETSU--the journal for the Japan Ceramic Society--his name was mentioned as a candidate for the JCS Prize; he didn't get it this time around yet no doubt in time (see Yellin's blog). He works in many styles and *whatever* he does he does it well. We have two Chosen-Karatsu style chawan to offer and here is the first and largest, it's 9cm.tallx13.5cm and has has full round form and great glazing and 'clay flavor' on the base. In perfect condition with a signed box. The smaller seen in a preview photo here is 7x12, boxed and priced at 50,000 yen.
