I can't say I know much about Sasaki Atsushi, all I can say is that I found this zogan-inlay vase very engaging in design and form. The oval form with high rounded shoulders has interlocking and overlapping zogan ribbon lines covering the entire surface. The inside is completely covered in a dark iron glaze. Sasaki(b.1943) was born in Hokkaido and in 1966 moved to Kyoto to study with Asami GorosukeIV and established his own kiln in 1977 in Fukuoka prefecture. His work has been shown at various juried exhibitions over the years including the Japan Ceramic Art and Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts exhibitions, as well as having one-man exhibitions throughout Japan. His work is in the permanent collection of the Fukuoka Prefectural Art Museum. This Sasaki 'vase' is 23cm.tallx32x28, there are two small firing cracks within the lip, not a concern as unnoticeable when viewed from the front, a museum piece of its own, signed box and stamped on base
