Kawai Sota(b.1973) is the great grandson of Kawai Kanjiro--Sota's father is Toshitaka and grandfather is Hirotsugu--and creates in the Kawai style; his abstract forms and beautiful glazes point to that. There is a youthful energy steeped in the Kawai tradition bouncing off his animated work; surely another rising star in this legendary potting family. Kawai was born in Kyoto and studied at university there before establishing his own kiln in Shigaraki in 2002. We are offering some recently fired works by Sota and here is a fine cobalt blue gosu glazed jar that stands on 'two legs' and has a true intriguing Kawai-style form. Everyone here in our gallery sees something different in the form, wherever your imagination takes you....as Einstein said it's more important than knowledge. In perfect condition with a signed box, 23.5cm.tallx20x17.
