This very large 7 ½ inch tall head, circa early 1860s, was manufactured by the German firm of Kestner & Company. The head is in excellent condition with no hairlines, cracks, or damage. There is a very small curvy factory stress line on the top of the forehead ,under chin, and a few typical factory pit marks on one cheek. Hate to even mention these because you don't really notice. Also, a Factory chip under and inside the bottom rim (see photo). None of these very minor issues are worth mentioning, and DO NOT distract from this very nice Large China Head. The head is molded with painted facial features including blue painted eyes and a black flat top hairstyle which has some paint rubs. The shoulder plate measures 6 ½ inches from shoulder to shoulder and 4 inches from front to back. This rather large head would make a perfect large doll to sit in a rocking chair or stand with several antique dolls all around it. The possibilities are endless.
