This fine pin measures 2” long. It displays 3 prong-set, scarab gems, budding from a leaf and stems. It is gold filled and marked BURT 1/20 12KT CASSELL. It is in excellent condition.
Burt Cassell, a designer based in Rhode Island and New York City, made high quality jewelry during the 1950s through the mid 1960s. His gold filled designs, enhanced with semi-precious stones were mainly sold through jewelry stores and not department stores. An advertisement from 1961 describes his work as "The Original Scarab", with each gemstone carved with Egyptian style hieroglyphics.
