Blue can't begin to describe the depth of color in this beautiful sapphire. The 1.55 ct oval Ceylon sapphire is surrounded by 14 baguette diamonds. More baguette diamonds are inset in the band, for a total diamond weight of 1.29 carats. The diamonds are VS1 clarity, and the setting and band are 18 k white gold. The ring is a size 7.

Fit for a queen! Here is a gorgeous 18 k gold open-work necklace. Two palmate elements on each side join in a filigree-like round element that suspends a fifth, larger palmate element. The chain consists of three round links connecting marquise-shaped filigree links. The French eagle mark, indicating both French origin and 18 k gold, is on the clasp. The necklace is a generous 17 1/2" long. This piece is both elegant and simple. Circa 1890-1900

Some marriages are made in Heaven, and this is one. This brooch is a marriage of three Victorian pieces: the bar pin with six diamonds, the enamel bow, and the heart-shaped enamel slide. The bow and slide must once have been part of the same piece. The pin is 12 k gold, and the bow and slide 18 k. The bar pin is 1 3/4" long. It's absolutely stunning...AND it's on sale for Christmas!

Truly fit for a museum, this rare and wonderful Egyptian Revival pin has a portrait painted on porcelain. It is mounted in 800 silver and surrounded by 16 coral beads on wire. There have been some repairs [not visible from the front] as is so common in jewelry repaired in the 19th century. 1 1/4" diameter. Circa 1875.

This pendant with a winged cherub is delicately carved in mother-of-pearl and surrounded by rose-cut diamonds. The pendant is 14 k yellow gold, and the diamonds are set in 14 k white gold. Ten larger and 47 smaller rose-cut diamonds surround the cameo, and nine more diamonds are pave-set on the bail. This piece is really stunning...perfect for the lover of cherubs. 1 1/2" x 1" plus 3/8" bale. Marked [and tested] 14 k, and there is a maker's mark I can't identify.

This Victorian pin is a gorgeous Egyptian Revival design rendered in gilded silver and plique a jour. The wings are yellow-green plique shading to burnt orange. Wing tops are opaque enamel in yellowish green. The pin is centered with a matching stone which is to date [and probably forever] unidentified. It is not peridot, nor is it glass. The pin is 2" across and is circa 1880.

Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful enameling technique that gives a stained glass effect dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, and revived in the late 1800s in France. This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants and a fresh water pearl dropper.
