Some marriages are made in Heaven, and this is one. This brooch is a marriage of three Victorian pieces: the bar pin with six diamonds, the enamel bow, and the heart-shaped enamel slide. The bow and slide must once have been part of the same piece. The pin is 12 k gold, and the bow and slide 18 k. The bar pin is 1 3/4" long. It's absolutely stunning.

This lovely crescent pin of 14 k gold is very Victorian, with a heart motif outlined in seed pearls. The hallmark is incomplete; the marks for Birmingham and England are present, along with an unidentified mark. There is no date stamp. The 2" wide pin appears to be circa 1890.

This buckle is so perfectly Art Nouveau and so perfectly William B. Kerr. It is 5 1/4" wide and 1 5/8" high and bears these markings: PATENTED JUNE 25, 1901; STERLING; 1564; and the fasces [maker's mark for Kerr]. It is in excellent condition, and the patina of age has been left undisturbed. Circa 1900.

This lovely turn-of-the-century pendant is signed with the dragonfly mark for Mayle & Meyer, a firm about which little is known. They probably were located in Pforzheim and made beautiful Art Nouveau, Jugenstil, and Art Deco jewelry. Victorian Coral Pin This is a lovely Victorian pin with coral beads and branch in a gold-filled setting. The three dangles, with beads and a small coral branch give movement and liveliness when it's worn. The whiplash design of the mounting suggests that it has a strong Art Nouveau influence. This Art Nouveau lavalier is 10 k gold and is set with a garnet/glass doublet* The pendant is 1 1/4" x 5/8" in size and is on a 16" gold filled chain. The dropper is a fresh water pearl. * Garnet glass doublets were popular in Victorian/Art Nouveau times and were quite a cottage industry. Families would gather in the evening to make molded glass 'stones' topped with thin slices of garnet. Color comes from the glass, as the garnet is so thin that the red color is not apparent...
