Some marriages are made in Heaven, and this is one. This brooch is a marriage of three Victorian pieces: the bar pin with six diamonds, the enamel bow, and the heart-shaped enamel slide. The bow and slide must once have been part of the same piece. The pin is 12 k gold, and the bow and slide 18 k. The bar pin is 1 3/4" long. It's absolutely stunning...AND it's on sale for Christmas!

Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful enameling technique that gives a stained glass effect dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, and revived in the late 1800s in France. This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants and a fresh water pearl dropper. The translucent enamel is an unusual and lovely blue in color. The metal is 900 silver, suggesting that the piece is most likely German or Austrian in origin...

This lovely example of English Arts & Crafts enamel is hallmarked and carries a maker's mark of SB. It is sterling silver with blue and green enamel. The enamel portion is 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and the chain is 18" long. Hallmarks indicate that it was made in Chester in 1918-19. The dropper is probably not original to the piece.
