This lovely turn-of-the-century pendant is signed with the dragonfly mark for Mayle & Meyer, a firm about which little is known. They probably were located in Pforzheim and made beautiful Art Nouveau, Jugenstil, and Art Deco jewelry. This wonderful example is made of 935 silver [higher silver content than sterling], enamel, citrine, and marcasite. The pendant is centered with a 12 x 30 mm oval citrine surrounded by marcasites, with pale blue enameled bows on the sides and enameled ribbons top and bottom. There is very minor enamel damage on left side. This piece probably dates from 1900-30. The chain is sterling.
