| This is a very beautiful, extremely well crafted RARE Edwardian / Art Nouveau blue Czech Peking glass and enamel necklace from the early 1900's, and it is a MUST HAVE! It is comprised of a link chain of mottled cornflower and cobalt blue Peking glass spheres interspersed with large scalloped cone shaped Peking glass beads and flower-embossed silver washed links. In the center of the chain is a filigree flower applied to a repousse plaque. Hanging from the necklace is a large pear shaped pendant set with a large piece of gleaming blue Peking glass slightly mottled with white and three small dark cobalt blue prong set Peking glass faceted baguettes. The Peking glass show bits of iron pyrite better known as fools gold to effect a simulated lapis lazuli look and feel in the glass. The glass is in excellent condition as is the entire necklace. On either side of the large central glass piece and above it are three pieces of rare cobalt blue, opaque faceted Czech glass added for accent. The pendant is decorated with blue and white enamel flowers and oval and butterfly wing shaped ornate scroll work and filigree. The enamel is in very good shape with it all there and nothing missing or cracked. The back is nearly as pretty as the front of the pendant is also designed with an open cut-work floral motif. The necklace is in excellent condition with slight wear to the silver washed metal backing on the filigree flower and pendant which is consistent with age. The Peking glass is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The necklace joins at the ends with a round spring clasp. The necklace measures 18 ½" long from end to end and hangs 11 ½" long from the back of the neck to the bottom of the necklace. The pendant measures 2 ¾" long from the last of the little blue round beads and 1 ½" across at it's widest point. The conical blue beads on the necklace measure about ¾" tall by about ½" wide for scale. The necklace weighs 45.3 grams. This is a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece and a truly collectible gem. | |||||||||||||||
