| Here's something different in the way of gold filled Victorian Edwardian mesh bracelets. This bracelet is actually very cool and very unusual and I don't think you will see another like it any time soon. It is constructed of very fine mesh almost feeling like fine fabric or a piece made from woven hair. The mesh is flexible and almost see through, soft and very lovely. The artist designed this with the center section being crushed mesh with what appears to be gold leaf overlay for accent against the woven portions of the outer sides. It comes together in the back with two delicate chains that are intertwined to keep it closed and a tiny tassel at either end for accent. The terminals of the bracelet are both enclosed in gold filled rounded end caps. The most unusual part of this bracelet is that it is set with a bright cobalt blue and Kelly green foiled peacock eye art glass stone. These stones are so rare and hard to find. The bracelet dates from the early part of the 20th century, CA 1900-20 during the height of the Art Nouveau and Edwardian periods. It has a decadent and yet elegant feel and look to it. The condition is very, very good with some wear to the finish mostly noticeable on the inside. There are a few tiny rough spots noticeable only to the touch on the front of the bracelet in the 'crushed' center section. Nothing to detract at all, just mentioning for accuracy. The bracelet measures 6 1/4" from end cap to end cap and the attached chains allow it to be expanded to fit any size wrist. I am not sure how this is supposed to close but the chains are strung between the two end caps so it works like a pulley system and probably wraps around itself in some way. I think it would be helpful to have a detachable safety chain attached to help contain it but I will leave that to the winner to do so. I don't want to alter it in any way. I have it on my wrist as you can see in the photo and it fits me perfectly. It's very comfortable. It is just over 1/2" wide and the peacock eye is about 1/2" across. | ||||||||||||
