Kaho studied painting under Mori
Kansai (1814-1892) and calligraphy
under Tomioka Tessai (1836-1924).
In his early years Kaho was gifted
painter in the Maruyama-Shijo tradition.
From the late 1910s onwards he preferred
to follow the paths of the 18th century
painters Rosetsu (1754-1799) Ito
Jakuchu (1716-1800) and Yosa
Buson (1716-1783).
