Four Foo Dog seals. Two carved, two blank. Two made of ivory, one of black stone and one of red stone.The Foo dog is also known as the celestial dog and happiness dog. The animal is also a symbol of energy and value. Age: Mid 19th century. Size: H. Tallest 4cm- Smallest:2.5cm. Condition: The red stone one has a small chip at the base, all others are fine.

An unusual blackwood ruler inlaid with silver markings on one side. Age: Qing Dynasty. Early 19th century. Size: L.35cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal ageing and some minor dents.

A very well executed Ming stone weight depicting a strange youth guiding a mythical beast.The stone itself is unusual in that is very hard and veined with two colors. A very unique piece and a true work of art. It is my understanding that these weights were used for pressing paper. Size: Base. 28.3 x 28.3cm. H. 14.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Some minor old chips around the edges and the horn on the animal might have been filed a little long ago.

A brass four prong dorje from Tibet. The primary symbol and ritual implement used in Tantric Buddhism, also know as a vajra. It can be translated as "diamond" or "thunderbolt". Age: Pre 1920. Size: L. 12cm. W. 4.3cm. Condition: Perfect.

A set of seven (7) miniature paintings on canvas of winged Tibetan protector deities and gods surrounded by flames including Vajrapani and Yama Dharma Raja. Four (4) of the miniatures are finely executed line drawings with color washes on a light-weight canvas. These four appear to have been done by the same artist and are of approximately the same size. The other three are painted on a heavier canvas - two of which are painted in full with darker pigments...

A black terracotta Buddha amulet in the sitting position in-cased in a stainless steel case from Thailand. Age; Pre 1900 or earlier. Size: H. 3cm. Condition: No repairs.

Two unusual well carved huanghuali stands. They are almost a pair, but one is slightly larger than the other. Age: Late Ming or early Qing. Size: #1. Diameter 10cm. H. 3.5cm. #2. Diameter 9.5cm. H. 3cm. Condition: No repairs.

A complete calcified "chicken bone" jade necklace from the Longshan Period. Jade that has been buried for millenniums sometime calcifies to a white color losing all of it's original color. Age: 2800-1900 BC. Size. Length(closed) 29.5cm. Condition: Age calcification.

A seal from what is now Burma/India with carvings of an elephant and a flower. The handle is smooth and well-worn. The ivory has taken on a rich brown color with age.

Period: Pyu Dynasty - 100AD to 500AD)

Size: 3.5 cm (1-3/8 inches, Diameter of seal = 2.6 cm (approx. 1 inch)

Condition: Part of the seal has broken away from age (see photos). Has a very beautiful patina.

n old bamboo brush pot with unusual zigzag pattern. Age: 18th century. Size: H. 13cm, Radius. 10.3cm. Condition: No repairs. Old chip on the rim, natural cracking along the rims and natural ageing.

A charming brushpot inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ivory and hardstones. The inlay work is of branch with flowering plum blossoms. The back has a poem of archaic Chinese characters inlaid in silver. The wood is a dark hardwood (unidentified) of a slightly reddish tint.

Condition: Good condition. Slight age crack-which is part of the beauty-at the bottom part (under the plum blossoms)...

A rare crystal ring from the Pyu dynasty carved with a fish,the sea and a crescent moon. The fish is a early Buddhist symbol for incarnation carried over from Hinduism. In Hinduism, one of their symbols is a fish. One appeared as an avatar (incarnation or physical bodily manifestation) of Vishnu to save mankind from the Great Flood. The Fish (matsya) were originally symbolic of the rivers Ganges and Yamuna, but came to represent good fortune in general, for Hindus, Jain and Buddhists...

A nicely carved natural amber pendant with one bat and leaf design. The bat represent longevity and happiness. The bat and happiness sound is in the Chinese language is similar - both pronounced Fu. Size: L. 2.4cm. Condition: No repairs, cracks or chips.

A beautifully embroidered and tassled multi colored cloth from the hilltribes of Southern China. Age: 1930's. Size: L 54cm. W. 27cm. Condition: Very good. No repairs.

An unusual divided double brass cricket cage with a glass front. The top of the case has the symbol etched in for prosperity. The glass divider in the case is missing but can easily be replaced. Age. Mid 19th century. Size: H. 7cm. W. 10.5cm. Condition: No repairs.

A very unusual and rare Ming pair of lacquered scholar's partition screens on huanghuali stands.

Against a black lacquer background, each screen features scholar's objects in brown lacquer and mother-of-pearl with accents of gold. They are bordered with a band of leaf patterns done in gold and inlaid mother of pearl...

Very pale celadon color jade buckle with 2 dragons. The dragons are beautifully carved with nice detailing. A graceful arch formed by the body of the main dragon curves over the "button." An very well carved erotic jade of two lovers with a floral patterned robe partially covering their bodies. The jade is translucent and of an even white color. The back of the hairdo of the male forms the hole for stringing. Period: Ching - Early 19th Century or late 18th century. Size: Height = 3.2 cm., Width = 3.4 cm

A Kutani Kaburagi lidded bowl painted with symbols of prosperity and longevity in multi-colored enamels and gold. The Golden Hammer (uchide-no-kozuchi) that serves as the handle for the lid, is the symbol of Daitoku, one of the 7 lucky gods. Legend has it, if you shake the hammer, it brings wealth. Around the outer bowl, there are storks (symbols of longevity) nestled inside stylized pine needle formations...

A well carved circular pendant with two facing dragons carved in the Shang Dynasty Style There is a carved circular relief designs on both sides. Age: Qing. Size: Diameter. 4.8cm. Condition. No chips or repairs.

A nicely carved jade pendant with an unusual shape copying the Western Zhou style. Lots of intricate carving on this piece. This is most likely an old jade but I can't date it. Size: W. 8.2cm. H.4.2cm. Condition: No breaks or repairs. Some wear.

A nicely carved jade pig done in the Han style.Pigs represent prosperity and jade pigs were were placed in the hands of the deceased. Many jade pigs were used for this purpose in later times and are sometimes mistaken for Han pieces. Size: L.10cm. H. 2.8cm. W. 2.3cm. Condition: No chips. Some calcification.

A nicely carved mythical beast or cute animal in the recumbent position. There is a hole through the mouth for hanging. As for the age, I will date it as a Song piece, but it could also be from the Southern & Northern Dynasties. It is hard to date jade as many Dynasties copied from past dynasties. Size: L. 5cm.
