A very rare large gilded Royal Thayo receptacle created in Mandalay for Buddhist votive use. Thayo is made by mixing lacquer with sifted paddy husks to which pulverized bone is added for strength, resulting in a sort of plastic like material easily moulded or stamped in a relief design. A late 19th - early 20th century very large "Yun" lacquered betel box with incised design of royal scenes and dancing girls. The box is divided into four pieces. The bottom part for betel leaves and the top part for lime, areca nuts, clove and other ingredients. Size:H. 25.5cm Diameter: 27cm. Condition: No repairs, an old chip on upper rim and some age cracks on the two bottoms. See photos.

A very large Imari charger with a painted dragon in the center chasing the elusive flaming pearl. The panels have various paintings of dancers and country scenes. It is unusual to see dragons in Japanese Imari plates. The back has been wired for hanging. Size: Diameter. 45.3cm. Condition: Perfect.

Large Tibetan wooden prayer beads from Lhasa with nine glass bead spacers and two leather counters with ten silver rings each ending with silver inlaid coral and turquoise, the wooden ones are made from the wood of the Bodhi tree where Buddha received his enlightenment.
