A huanghuali wood brush washer carved in the form of a frog resting on a lotus pad that gently curls around him, giving protection. Brush washers and brushpots were important implements for painting and calligraphy for Chinese scholars. They were used, not only for practical purposes, but also for enjoying their beauty.

Period: Ching - 19th Century

Size: Length = 25 cm (9-7/8 inches, Width = 17 cm (6-5/8 inches)Condition: Very good with no repairs. Natural age wear.

A jade of a chimera (mythical animal. The light grey-green nephrite jade has areas and spots of beige and dark brown natural that are to the stone. The animal is tilting its head to the left and is open-mouthed showing it's teeth and curled tongue. Period: Late Ming, Early Ching (17th/18th Century) Size: H = 3-1/2", Length = 5-3/4"

A bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara standing in tribhanga. The head is encircled by a flaming halo. There are areas of green encrustation. The figure was gilded when originally made and there are some traces of gold remaining. Period: Tang (618 - 907 AD) Size: Height = 14 cm., Width at base = 3.2 cm.

A rare Ming huanghuali brushpot with beading around the top and beading around bottom with three legs. Age 17 century - Ming. Size:H. 15.5cm. Diameter: 16.3cm. Condition: Some old small repairs around the beading on the top and bottom. A dark natural spot on one side. Very good condition considering the age.

A pair of mythical animals (mother and child) of a creamy jade color. It has small areas of natural brown, light orange and grey coloration and inclusions. The jade is beautifully carved and feels lovely to the touch. The curled tail of the smaller animal forms a round hole which enables a thin rope to be put through it. Absolutely endearing. Period: Early Ching (18th Century) Size: H = 1-3/4", W = 3-3/8"

An oblong piece of golden brown amber with carvings in relief of two flying bats among clouds. Each bat has the tassled end of a rope in its mouth; on this rope are three coins. Bats and coins both represent good fortune. A translucent blue Chinese glass bead (Ming period)comes with the amber.

Period: Ching (19th Century)

Size: Length = 5.3 cm (2-1/4 inches), Width = 3 cm (1-1/4 inches)

Condition: Very good. No breaks, cracks or chips.
