A huanghuali wood chest with original brass hardware. Over a two-part round lockplate is a cloud-shaped hasp with a cross design in the center. The four corners on top also have cloud-shaped protective/decorative brass. Period: 17th Century Size: Height = 13.3cm, Length = 37.2 cm, Depth = 20.3 cm. Condition: Normal wear. The top has some minor age cracks(see photo).

A very rare Pyu mortar with nine elephant motifs surrounding the base. Possibly used for grinding pigments combining it with oil to use for ladies' toilette, calligraphy, etc. It may also have been used for religious rituals. Size: L.7cm. W.5cm. H.2.6cm. Condition: No repairs or chips. Very good.
