A rare huanghuali wood Chinese "violin" called an erhu. The main body and neck are carved from a single piece of huanghuali wood, its top stretched with snake skin of beautiful patterning. Unusual pottery water dropper (scholar's object) in the form of a three-legged frog. The frog has a sansai glaze of a basic straw-colored glaze with drippings of yellow and green glazes. This water dropper was made with a hole in its back for placing the thumb to regulate the flow of water from its mouth. In Chinese mythology the three-legged frog usually lives on the moon and brings good fortune.
