A nice lacquer screen mirror used by Scholars in their work tables. The mirror is surrounded by the usual key fret design while the base is carved with the auspicious melon, peony and peach, representing longevity and prosperity. Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. A brass/bronze oval tobacco container. The top and two surfaces along the side have hammered lines of erotic art (all three scenes are different). The graceful lines are skillfully hand-tooled. The container is rather weighty for its size.

Period: Ching (Mid 19th Century)

Size: Height = 5 cm (2 inches), Length = 5.8 cm (2-1/4 inches), Width = 3.5 cm (1-3/8 inches)

Condition: It has a dark patina. Can use some polishing but we like to keep it in its natural state.

A very rare extremely large storage jar from the Chinese Song period, 960 -1126 AD.These jars were used for storage for Chinese trading vessels. They were then traded off to Chieftains in Southeast Asia and were considered sacred items. Most jars were from the Ming to the middle Qing Dynasties.
