n extremely rare matching set of a drum table and five matching stools made of Jichi wood or "Chicken Wing Wood" with burlwood tops with a bamboo design. The table top is made from one piece of burlwood. Bamboo carved furniture from very expensive wood is very rare as bamboo is a very inexpensive wood and to carve that bamboo design in the expensive wood is a sign of reverse snobbery reserved for the very rich at that time...

A votive portable prayer altar with a bronze botisattva on the front, in relief, sitting on a lotus pedestal. it is surrounded by incised leaf and flower patterns. Inside is a statue of Buddha and there are two prayer sheets (one hand printed and one block printed).

An unusual Tang pottery of a standing dwarf wearing a robe and hat painted in original orange pigments. He has a stocky figure and a sweet countenance on his downward tilt head. He is full of character. Figures such as these are considered a symbol of good luck and are not easy to find.

A Han tomb pillar with stamped designs on three side. Front panel is stamped with four alternating designs of three trees with cloud formations and four girls carrying something over their heads. A very rare figure of a Tang lady seated on a barrel stool in a long robe and large hairdo gently holding a dog. Original Tang figures look beautiful at all angles. Made of a fine red colored clay, it was originally painted but the slip and color have worn away revealing only the clay underneath.

Period: Tang (7th - 10th Century)

Size: Height = 17.8 cm (7 inches)

Condition: The original head had broken off when found but has been re-attached.
