A very rare large Han tomb pillar with stamped designs on three side. Front panel is stamped with four alternating designs of three trees with cloud formations and four girls carrying something over their heads. Each panel is separated with cloud formations. The two side panels have diamond shaped designs all the way to the bottom.In northern China during the Han dynasty, hollow clay bricks were used to construct the small, rectangular chambers of underground tombs. The doors, pillars, and lintel assembled here reconstruct the entrance to such a chamber. Before firing, the bricks were stamped with vigorous images from daily life and from mythology. Size: H. 91.5cm W. 7 x 6.1 cm. Condition. No repairs. One small casting hole on one side panel. In it's original condition.
