A rectangular silver box rich in high relief of dancers in costume. The detailing of the human forms and the patterning on their costumes is finely done. The background of the dancers is done in open-work silver of a pattern of swirling leaves and tendrils. At the bottom of the box is a large hand-hammered mythical Asian chimera (Makara). The box weighs 740 grams. Period: Circa 1910 or earlier Size: Height = 8 cm (3-1/8 inches), Length = 18.5 cm (7-1/4 inches), Width = 10 cm (4 inches) Condition: Very good. Normal age wear. The actual box looks better than in the photos. |
