Great example of an Hiboux (Owls) vase by Lalique; French, c1980. Ref: Lalique Catalogue #12279. Long discontinued, this Marie-Claude Lalique design was loosely-based on the original 1930's Hiboux vase by her grandfather, Rene Lalique. The vase is technically complex even by todays standards, being press-molded from the top, partially satinated, and with the 5 stylized owls supporting the upper bowl like flying buttresses.
Measures approx. 5.25" high and is in perfect, original condition - not a scratch on it anywhere. The paperweight-base is solid crystal so the vase is very heavy for it's size at almost 4lbs. |
