Wedgwood between 1878 and 1890. They are 4 ½ inches high with a diameter of 9 ½ inches. The design is from the aesthetic period in Imari style. Rich gilding, rust red florals and cobalt blue trim are combined to create these elegant porcelain serving pieces. The octagonal shape is uniquely suited to the pattern of decorated panels of cream and gold. Having the opportunity to own a pair of these compotes for perfect balance on a table or breakfront is rare. Condition: Excellent

These 4 porcelain soup cups and saucers were produced in England by Doulton Burslem in the 1890s. The saucers measure 5 1/8 inches and the cups are 2 inches high. The cups are quatrefoil, blown out and puffy in shape. The ground color is known as “blush”, shading from lighter to darker beige. They are decorated with transfer designs that are hand painted and have enameled accents. Brushed on gilding accents the inside rims of the cups and there is a row of tiny gold beads trimming the rims. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Minton around 1850. It is marked with Minton’s “Ermine” mark. The plate is inspired by the 18th century artist, Francois Bucher, and executed in the Sevres style. It measures 9 5/8 inches in diameter. The central scene shows a young man discovering a maiden asleep in the woods. The painting is expertly done with fine detail in heavy enamels. The celeste blue border contains 3 cartouches of tiny flowers. The gilded decorations are raised and elaborate. The slightly scalloped rim is trimmed with dentil gold. This plate is an art treasure in porcelain. Condition: Excellent

This pair of porcelain plates was produced in England by Mintons in 1879. This was the height of the Aesthetic Period when Japanese inspired design was in demand. They were made for the retailer Jones, McDuffee & Stratton of Boston, Massachusetts. The creators of these plates and their designs were E. Reuter & R. Pillsbury at Mintons. The plates measure 9 ½ inches in diameter and the decoration has slender metallic vessels contain flowering branches. The designs are famous for their use of space and their elegant beauty. There is a trim of dentil gilding on the rims. Condition: Excellent

This pair of porcelain vases was produced in England by Royal Worcester in the 1870s. They were made especially for the retailer, Richard Briggs, of Boston. They measure 8 ½ inches tall and 6 inches wide. The design is Japonesque, simulating lacquer ware, sitting on a wooden base. They are hand painted with birds and flowers that complement each other. They are painted on both sides with different designs. It is good fortune they have survived as a pair for so many years as they were meant to be. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain ewer was produced in England by Royal Worcerster in 1885. The date letter in the marking indicates this year. It is model number 1048. The artist who painted this vase was Charles Baldwyn who worked at Worcester from 1880 to 1904. The ewer measures 7 ¼ inches high and has a diameter of 6 ¾ inches. The porcelain has a creamy, ivory hue. It is hand painted with a realistic jay bird sitting on a branch. The painting is done with flat paint, raised enamels and gold leaf. On the back of the ewer, black birds fly freely. The marvelous feature of this piece is the gargoyle handle painted in two toned gold. It is in gleaming contrast to the soft creamy texture of the matte ground. How interesting it is to see the realism of the jay bird and the monstrous creature of a handle in juxtaposition. It is so Victorian. Condition: Excellent

The set has a fluted shape with scalloped edges. The ground color is sky blue enamel. It is intricately hand gilded with raised and beaded gilding. The interior of the cup, well of the saucer and handle are coated in gold. Condition: The bottom of the cup has slight crazing in the glaze. You have to use magnification to see it. There are no other defects.

The ground color is deep cobalt blue. It is decorated with ornate raised and beaded gilding. The interior of the cup, well of the saucer and handle are coated in gold. Condition: Excellent. There is no wear to the gilding and no crazing in the glaze.

They are painted in exquisite detail and vivid colors. The use of space and depth is uncommon. Even the shape of the handle is borrowed from Sevres. There is delicate gold trim on the rims and the handle is accented with gold. Study the artistic details to understand the wonder of this cup and saucer. Condition: Excellent

They are made of fine, white bone china. The reticulated borders around the plates are 1 ¾ wide. They are outlined in heavy celeste blue enamel known as French enamel. There are 3 cartouches in the borders containing colorful sprays of hand painted flowers. Similar flower sprays accent the centers of the plates. There are hand gilded accents and they have gilded rims. The process of producing French enamel items was labor intensive and costly. The design was taken from work done at the Royal Sevres Manufacturer using their signature celeste blue color. Condition: There are some minor scratches in the white surface from use. There are no other flaws.

This set of 12 plates was produced in France in the mid 19th century. They are marked with the underglaze Sevres markings but were probably made by a Paris decorator. Each plate is artist signed. They are 9 3/8 inches in diameter. They are made of soft paste porcelain. The set is elaborately hand painted. The center of each place has a different Watteau scene. The style of painting is romantic, soft and dreamy. The borders have etched cartouches and gilding. Delicate and colorful flowers fill the reserves. Garlands of tiny roses drape around the borders. Nearly the whole surface of each plate is covered with decoration. These plates show expert artistry and extraordinary beauty. Condition: There are minor surface scratches.

It has a bright olive green enamel ground color. An intricate pattern of raised gold in two colors encircles the piece. There are swags, drapes and other design elements making it look like a piece of jewelry. Bright orange and white enamel jewels accent the gilded design. This is a gem of jeweled porcelains. Condition: There is some slight crazing in the glaze on the bottom. It is in otherwise excellent condition.
