This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Hutschenreuther in 1914. It was produced in their Dresden hand painting division. The saucer has a diameter of 4 3/8 inches and the cup is 1 ¾ inches high. The cup has an unusual shape with a pedestal base and a hexagonal shape (6 sided). The ground color is deep cobalt blue. There is a reserve on the front of the cup containing a hand painted scene. There is a winged cherub and a fairy. The cherub is writing on a tablet. They are both sitting on a cloud. The scene is surrounded by elaborate hand gilding that is raised and beaded. The saucer has matching gilding and just one little flower in the well. The interior of the cup, handle and rims are trimmed with rich gold. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufacturer, or KPM, in the 1890s. The saucer measures 4 ¼ inches and the cup is 1 ½ inches high. The set is made of fine hard paste porcelain. Both pieces are hand painted with delicate flowers in bright colors. Little sprigs of flowers are scattered about. Lacy gilding trims the borders. The rims and handle are accented with gold. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea caddy with lid was produced in Germany by Sitzendorf in the 1890s. The tea caddy measures 6 inches high, including the lid and 5 inches across the handles. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. The reserve on the front is hand painted with a mischievous looking cupid with his bow and arrows. The painting is finely executed with bright colors and fine detail. The scene is framed in a raised gold cartouche. The back of the caddy has a gilded lyre or harp in raised gold. There are lovely gilded accents and trim. This is a charming accent piece or great find for collectors of tea caddys. Condition: Excellent

This 3 piece porcelain tea set was produced in Austria by Royal Rudolstadt in the 1890s. The pot measures 5 ½ inches high and 4 ¼ inches from the spout to the handle. The cream pitcher is 4 inches high and 3 inches from the spout to the handle. The sugar bowl with lid is 3 ½ inches high and has a diameter of 3 ¼ inches. The 3 pieces all have little feet. They are entirely hand painted and hand gilded. The scenes with cherubs are all artist signed. There is opulent raised gilding and raised enamel beaded accents on all of the pieces. The deep cobalt blue ground provides dramatic contrast to the gilding and painted reserves. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain figural group was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory or KPM in 1913. It has a date cipher indicating this year. The piece is signed by Karl Himmelstoss, a modeler who specialized in traditional subject matter. The group measures 9 ½ inches high, 9 inches long and 5 inches wide. The piece weighs over 5 pounds unwrapped. Two women and child from the Spreewald region of Germany, outside of Berlin engage in some juicy gossip. They are dressed in the traditional costumes of this period. The modelling is well done and the piece is nicely balanced. Himmelstoss had a sense of humor with his characters. Just look at the older woman’s expression. She is totally enjoying what she is hearing. There are finely hand painted details to the costumes the three are wearing. If you travel to Spreewald you will probably still see women dressing in this traditional manner. You will find an illustration and description of this figural group on page 135, “Berliner Porzellan vom Jugendstil zum Funktionalismus 1889-1939” from the Brohan Museum. Condition: Excellent, first quality.

This porcelain figurine was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufacturer or KPM about 1900. It was modelled by the artist Karl Himmelstoss. He specialized in subjects wearing traditional costumes. The figure is 10 ¼ inches high and 7 inches wide. The figure weighs over 4 pounds unpacked. The finest modelling and degree of detail is evident. Folds in the skirt, ruffled collar and sleeves, the wicker texture of the basket, ribbons and headdress show complex detail. Completing the piece is the exquisitely detailed painting of the lady. KPM was known for wonderful hand painted plaques but here is that remarkable painting on a figurine. The traditional costumes worn by the women of the Spreewald region, outside of Berlin, provided interesting subject matter for Himmelstoss and was appreciated by Berliners. It was common to see nurses and nannies wearing this type of clothing in the 19th century. This piece has a dual purpose, as a work of art and preserving historical prospective on the life in Germany. Condition: Excellent first quality

This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory, or KPM, in 1919. The date ciphers indicate this year. The plate is 8 ¾ inches in diameter. The porcelain is delicate and translucent with a reticulated border. The decoration is beautifully hand painted with the “soft paste paint” style. There is a fragile dragonfly hovering near the realistically painted flowers. The reticulated pattern on the border is outlined in gold and the rim is also gilded. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain chocolate set was produced in Germany by the Carl Thieme Saxonian Porcelain Factory at Potschappel around 1900. The set consists of a chocolate pot, 10 ¾ inches tall, 6 cups, 3 inches high without the handle, and 6 saucers, 4 ½ inches in diameter. The set is decorated in a pattern similar to Marie Antoinette’s china. Each piece is expertly hand painted with vibrant sprays of flowers. The flowers are framed with elegant raised gilding. Raised gilding accent the borders, handles and rims. The handles on the cups are empire style, rising up over the rims of the cups. You would be proud to showcase this set in your breakfront or display cabinet. Condition: Just a ¼ inch loss to gilding on the back or the pot keeps this set from being excellent. It is barely visible.

This porcelain dish was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1890s. The dish measures 10 3/4 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches deep. The dish is formed in the shape of a fan. The center of the dish is hand painted with a Watteau scene of lovers dressed in 18th century costume. They are enjoying the pleasures of the garden. The painting is very detailed and colorful. The border has a similarity to designs done at the Sevres factory in France. It has gilded cartouches of exotic birds and and intricate cross hatch design. There are gilded accents and gold trim. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and suacer was produced in Bohemia by Pirkenhammer in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 ½ inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The rim of the saucer and the foot of the cup are reticulated. The set has a wine colored ground color with reserves of gilded urns filled with colorful flowers. The hand painting and raised gilding has fine detail. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. The set is quite Victorian with a European feel. Condition: There are 2 gold dots missing on cup.

This porcelain trinket box was produced in Germany by Meissen around 1900. It has a diameter of 3 inches and is 1 ¾ inches high. It is made of the finest porcelain with a high gloss glaze. It is hand painted in Art Nouveau style with a bunch of pink roses and foliage. There is gold trim around the rims of both pieces. Condition: Excellent, first quality

This pair of porcelain goblets was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg between 1850 and 1862. They measure 6 7/8 inches high and have a diameter of 2.75 inches. They are decorated with portraits of persons of royalty to commemorate their engagement or marriage. The portraits are executed with photographic detail. Each goblet has elaborate gilding surrounding the portraits, around the foot of the goblet and on the back. They are of historical significance and beautiful examples of Nymphenburg’s work. A possibility for the identity of this couple we found are Elisabeth d’Autriche Austria-Sissi and Franz Joseph. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Chelsea between 1756 and 1769. It has a gold anchor painted over the glaze. There are many copies of the gold anchor mark used through the decades but we guarantee that this cup and saucer is authentic. The saucer has a diameter of 4 5/8 inches and the cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The ground color is burgundy. Reserves of hand painted flowers decorate both pieces. Rich tooled gilding frame the reserves. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. CONDITION: There is slight wear and some scratches to the burgundy ground on the saucer. The gold rim on the cup has touches of wear at high points. These flaws are very minor when age and rarity are taken into consideration. There are no other defects or restoration.

This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Richard Klemm Dresden Studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and the cup is 3 1/4 inches high without the handle. It was probably used to serve hot chocolate. The cup features an Empire style handle. The set is hand painted with cartouches containing Watteau scenes in Meissen style. The rest of the cup and saucer is covered with fine, lacy gilding. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Austria by Ernst Wahliss around 1900. The saucer has a diameter of 6 inches and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The set is quatrefoil in shape. The porcelain is highly translucent. It is decorated with delicate gilding, matte gold and shiny gold, reminiscent of Russian enamel work. The gilded ornaments contain tiny flowers in pastel colored cartouches. It is a delight to the senses to touch and see such splendid artistry. Condition: Excellent

This set of 6 porcelain soup cups and saucers was produced in the US by Willets Belleek between 1885 and 1909. The porcelain and the decoration originated from the factory. The saucers have a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and the cups are 2 inches high and 5 inches across the handles. The porcelain is egg-shell thin with a molded pattern similar to ones you might find on Irish Belleek porcelain. Sweet pink roses encircle the borders inside the cup, outside the cup and around the saucer. In the very center of each saucer and at the bottom of the cups you find a kind of rose medallion. Delicate gilded accents and gold trim complete these delightful cups and saucers. They may have been designed to serve soup in but you could serve berries with whipped cream or other delicacies. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain coffee can shaped cup and saucer were produced in England by Spode in 1812. The design, number 709, is referred to as one of Spode’s “Candlelight” patterns. The Spode museum in Stoke on Trent has a tea set of this pattern on display. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and is 1 1/8 inches deep. The cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The ground color is cobalt blue. There are cartouches with brightly hand painted flowers. It has the most elaborate hand gilding with seashells and other ornaments covering the surfaces. The museum display indicates that this was made for “a rich man in his castle”. When you look at the quality of decoration you can understand. Condition: The saucer has light crazing. The set is otherwise in excellent condition.

The rims and handle are richly gilded. This demitasse cup and saucer is a lovely work of art. Condition: Excellent
