This porcelain oil lamp was produced in England by the Copeland Factory in the late 18th or early 19th century. There are no markings on this piece but we have seen the exact design on other items identified from the Copeland factory. It measures 4 3/4 inches from the handle to the spout and is 1 1/2 inches high. The porcelain appears to be ironstone china. The shape of the lamp is taken from the ancient Greeks. There is a scene with figures done in high relief on the top. The sides of the lamp have an ornately hand painted Imari style design with intricate gilding. They used moss green, cobalt blue, rust red and salmon pink in the decoration. The rims and handle are trimmed with heavy gilding.
Condition: There is slight gold wear around the edge of the lamp, spout and handle. It is a wonderful and rare object deserving of your consideration.
