These 4 porcelain figurines were produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the late 19th century. They have the impressed shield of Nymphenburg in the base of each piece. The tallest of the figures is 7 1/4 inches high to the shortest one which measures 6 1/2 inches high. They are made of fine white hard paste porcelain with a high gloss glaze. The cherubs are executed in blanc de chine and are very similar to figures produced by Meissen. Each cherub is modeled in fine detail, with attention given to definition of fingers, facial features, the chubby little bodies and the folds in the drapery. Each cherub is engaged in some activity. There appears to be some meaning to each one. Perhaps they represent the months of the year. They are standing on molded pedestals.
