This porcelain oyster plate was produced in France by Haviland & Co. Limoges between 1876 and 1879. It has a double mark from the factory indicating this period. It was made especially for the retailer Brodhead & Hamlin of Syracuse, New York. The plate is 9 inches in diameter. There is space for 6 shells and it has a center salt dip. The ground color of the plate is very light mint green. Each section has transfer decorations of sea life that are hand colored. There are different types of sea weed, shells, a star fish, etc. This is an early and rare oyster plate by Haviland & Co. Condition: Excellent original condition. There are some tiny pits in the glaze from the manufacturing process.
