These two plates were produced in France in the first half of the 19th century. They were manufactured at a Paris studio. There is no marking so we cannot identify the specific factory. The plates measure 9 1/4 inches in diameter. They are made of fine hard paste porcelain. They are painted in the Sevres style. The hummingbirds on each plate are hand painted with exquisite detail, portraying the exact species they represent. The floral background for each bird is
beautifully done. The borders of these plates have wide celeste blue enamel bands. There are three reserves containing colorful sprays of flowers framed in ornate raised gold cartouches. You may purchase either plate separately by choosing A or B.
