This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in France by Charles Ahrenfeldt Limoges between 1881 and 1893. The saucer has a diameter of 4 3/8 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The saucer is scalloped and has molded ribs. The cup is ribbed and has a blown out shape. The set is hand painted with tiny spays of roses and other types of flowers that trail down the sides of the cup. There are raised gilded ornaments separating the trailing flowers. The border of the saucer has a similar design. The hand painting and raised gilding is extremely delicate and must have taken much skill and patience to create. The handle and rims are trimmed with gold.
