This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany by KPM or Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory in the 1890s. The set is marked with the blue scepter underglaze and the red orb with cross overglaze indicating the porcelain and the painting took place at the factory. The saucer has a diameter of 4 3/4 inches and the cup is 2 1/8 inches high. The cup has a quatrefoil shape and the saucer has molded ridges that follow the contours of the cup. The set is made of fine, translucent hard paste porcelain. The cup has high quality miniature painting of young lovers in period dress pictured on both pieces. Delicate filigree gilding trims the borders and there are additional gold accents on the rims and handle. This cup and saucer is very desirable in beauty and quality.
