This porcelain trembleuse demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches and is 1 inch high. The cup is 1 5/8 inches high and has a diameter of 1 3/4 inches. The rare feature of this set is that there is a raised gallery on the saucer that holds the cup in place. Trembleuse is the word the French used to describe a saucer that would keep the cup from falling off of it. The set is beautifully hand painted in the Meissen style. It has little vignettes of lovers in garden scenes framed by colorful flowers. The rims are trimmed with lacy gilding. There are gilded accents on the handle and gallery on the saucer. This type of cup and saucer is uncommon and finding a demitasse size is even more unique.
