This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Austria in the 1890s. We have not identified the blue mark under glaze. The saucer measures 4 3/8 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch deep. The cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The rectangular shape is quite unique. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. Two sides of the cup has panels with hand painted scenes. There are beautiful ladies in pastel colored gowns dancing. The painting has some art nouveau influence. The scenes are surrounded by beaded gold. The border of the saucer has ornate raised gilding. The inside of the cup is gilded two thirds of the way down. This is a rare cup and saucer of beautiful quality.
Condition: The saucer has minute specks of wear that are hardly noticeable.
