These 9 champagne glasses were produced in the U.S. by Hawkes at the turn of the 19th century. The mark with three circles containing three hawks is on the bottom of the glass. They are 4 3/8 inches high and 3 ½ inches in diameter. These glasses were hand blown with a hollow stem for a special purpose. The champagne goes down into the stem and the bubbles shoot up into the glass like a volcanic eruption. It makes for quite an exciting drinking experience. They are exquisitely hand engraved with the most ornate design. Swirling foliage, plumes and flowers cover the entire bowl of the glass. The stem is cut in a fine honeycomb pattern. The foot is also engraved with swirls. Each glass is a work of art. It is amazing that this delicate object has survived more than a century. All of these glasses are in excellent condition.
