| This wall plaque was produced in Germany in the late 19th century. The factory was Musterschutz, best known for its creative drinking steins. The plaque measures 13 inches in diameter and is 2 ¼ inches deep. This plaque is made of terra-cotta pottery. The scene is modeled in great detail. The definition of texture in stone, wood, and clothing are portrayed with artistry. You can feel the depth of the interior of the room. It is completely hand painted. The faces of the monk and his drinking partner have their distinct characters. A speck of a chip at the edge of the monk’s apron and a tiny bit of wear near the man’s knee are the only imperfections. The plaque has old world European charm and is a wonderful decorative piece. | ||
