This tobacco jar was produced in Germany in the 1880’s. There are no markings to identify the specific factory it came from, but from the quality of the workmanship we are certain that it came from Germany. The jar is 4 ½ inches high and about 4 inches wide. The jar depicts a black boy smoking a pipe. The modeling of the jar is in high relief with excellent details. He is hand painted in rich colors. There are a few very minor specks of paint missing in his hair. Other than that, this tobacco jar is in excellent condition.
