This porcelain plate was produced in England by Brown, Westhead, & Moore before 1890. This company was the predecessor of Cauldon. It measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter. The entire plate is exquisite. It is fine quality bone china which has molded rococo relief decoration around the border. Flowers are interspersed with the festoons and swirls. Drawing toward the middle there are molded ribs giving the plate depth and texture. The ground color is a creamy ivory. The most superb feature of this plate lies within an ornate raised gold frame in the center. Renowned artist Antonin Boullemier painted a portrait of a little girl. She has an angelic face and flowing locks. Porcelains decorated by A. Boullemier are scarce and highly sought after. This wonderful antique plate is in excellent condition.
