This porcelain tray was produced in France by Lanternier Limoges in the 1890s. It measures 13 1/4 inches long, 10 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. The tray has one mark under glaze, one mark over glaze, and a painted signature in the decoration from the artist. The porcelain has ornate molded decoration in high relief and reticulated panels near the rims. All of this decoration is accented with hand gilding. The center of the tray has two lovers in 18th century costume beautifully hand painted. At first glance you might think this was a piece done by Dresden or Sevres since the quality is so fine. The gold trim on the edge of the tray shows some minute wear, so slight it is difficult to see since the trim on those edges are gilded in a mottled fashion. This tray is in excellent condition and a fine piece for display or use.
