Spectacular Pr Stevens & Hancock Derby Vases
This pair of porcelain vases was produced in England by Stevens and Hancock, Derby, in 1861. They are 11 inches tall. This pair of vases is like a breath of spring. The ground color is a pale lemon yellow. The most extraordinary thing about them is the applied flowers. There are complete bouquets of flowers on the font and back of each vase which were created petal by petal. Meissen is the most famous for this encrusted flower technique. It is impossible to imagine how many hours it took to create these vases. They are in incredibly excellent condition with very few losses to the three dimensional flowers. To find a matched pair such as these with the lids is quite a feat.
