Fabulous Pair of Royal Vienna Wall Sconces
$3,500

This pair of porcelain wall sconces was produced in Vienna, Austria at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in 1835. They are 15 inches long and 11 1/2 inches across the candle holders. There is an impressed bee hive mark as well as impressed numbers, 835 and 35. We believe that the 35 stands for 1835. The porcelain is molded in rococo style scrolls and shells. Each sconce has two arms which hold two candles. The cups that hold the candles are separate pieces which are bolted to the arms. They are hand painted with Meissen style flowers and decorated with incredibly vivid colors and rich gilding. They look very much like peacock feathers. One sconce has a professional repair to the top on one scroll. The other sconce has restoration to the top of one of the candle holders. Considering their age and the intricate nature of these sconces, it is amazing that there are only minor repairs. These are a truly stunning pair of wall sconces in excellent condition.
