| This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in France by Demartine Limoges before 1900. It is indicated on the bottom of both pieces that they were manufactured specifically for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New York. The cup and saucer have a simple form with the cup being can shaped and the saucer deep. The saucer measures 4 1/4 inches and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The decoration is quite elegant with lovely details. There are reserves on the cup and saucer containing pastel colored flowers on a black back ground. The flowers and leaves are outlined in gold. Pink borders have garlands of raised gilded flowers. Tiny gold flower buds dot the rims of the cup and saucer. Inside the rim of the cup is a border of lacy gold trim. It is just a superb little set. A hundred years ago some swank person sipped coffee at the Ritz. How cool is that? This demitasse cup and saucer is in excellent condition. | ||
