| This porcelain plate was produced in France by Haviland & Co. Limoges between 1879 and 1889. It has a diameter of 9 inches. The plate is fashioned from fine hard paste porcelain. We know that this plate is factory decorated because there is a double mark on the back. It is also artist signed near the portrait. The portrait is of Henry VIII’s wife, Anne Boleyn. The quality of the painting is superb. The features of her face and the details of her garments are exquisite and precise. The portrait is done in minute brush strokes befitting the finest miniature portrait artists. Some things are meant to be seen from a distance but this portrait only gets better upon close examination. There is a simple gold leaf decoration accenting the rim of the plate. This rare work of art is in excellent condition. | ||
