| This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in the U.S. by Willets Belleek before 1900. The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/4 inches and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The porcelain is extremely translucent so that you can see light coming through. The cup has an ornate scrolled handle and a pedestal base. Both cup and saucer have a scalloped edge. It has an ivory color with a high glaze. This set is factory decorated with a transfer of tiny floral sprigs which are accented with color by hand. The flowers are outlined with gold. There is gold trim on the rims and handle and a fancy medallion in the middle of the saucer. Belleek produced in the United States was costly to make and therefore made for only about a twenty year period. The delicacy of these porcelains insured that many have not survived over the course of time. They are more difficult to find as time goes on. This lovely set is in excellent condition. | ||
