This glass vase was produced in Kamenicky Senov, Bohemia by Josef Ahne in the late 19th century. The glass studio was in production from 1830 until 1909. This is one of the earlier pieces. The vase is 10 1/4 inches high and 8 inches wide. The opaline glass is hand blown with a polished bottom. The vase is signed Ahne and there is the number 5 on the bottom. There is a charming hand painted scene of a little girl looking at a clock. Ahne copied paintings by Italian and German artists. Ahne won a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition in 1873. The excellence of his work is evident in this piece. The remaining area of the vase is painted to resemble marble. There is a sprig of flowers on the back side.
Condition: The gilded rim of the vase is worn. There are no other defects. This is a lovely antique vase that will bring pleasure for years to come.
