| James Knox 1866 - 1942, Winter Sunset, oil on canvas, 26 1/4" by 29 1/8", unsigned, 33 3/8" by 36 3/8" housed in gilded carved period reproduction frame, very minimal retouch, craquelure. Artist was born in Glasgow, Scotland and after emigrating to the United States, studied under Joseph H. Boston and eventually settled in New York. Member of American Watercolor Society, New York Watercolor Society, Allied American Artists, Brooklyn Painters Society, Salmagundi Club, and Salons of America. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery Biennial, National Academy of Design, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and Salons of America. | ||
