| John Willard Raught 1857 - 1931, Summer Morning on the Roaring Brook - Moscow, Pennsylvania, oil on unstretched canvas, 8 3/4" by 12 7/8" sight, signed lower right, titled verso original frame, 12 3/4" by 17" housed in silver leaf carved frame, no restorations. Artist studied National Academy of Design, then in France 1885-1890 and 1895-1897, including Academie Julian under Gustave Boulanger and Jules-Joseph Lefebvre. Member of American Federation of the Arts, Brooklyn Art Association, Salmagundi Club. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Art Club, Brooklyn Art Association, Chicago 1893 Columbian Exposition, National Academy of Design, Paris Salon, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, St. Louis Exposition-1904 World's Fair. Died 1931 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. | ||
