'Mermaid coming to the shore of Lake Nip' by David Morrisseau Original Acrylic on Paper Dimensions: 10 by 15 inches In mint condition Signed and dated 1993 Inscribed on back: 'Mermaid coming to the shore of Lake Nip Sept.20.1993' Professionally Framed David Morrisseau paints his subjects so that we have a direct sense of their surroundings. His use and interpretation of color allows him to beautifully depict scenes of moose, fish people, shaman, mermaids and the imagery of all that is seen in the physical as well as the spiritual worlds. David allows myth to speak for itself by exposing its vibrancy and gives it a texture that allows for a story to be told. His style can be seen in the form of swirls and dots. He uses acrylics to compose a sharpness of line which he counters with an ever-expanding force of color. David is recognized as a leading contemporary artist in Canada. He is Ojibway, the son of the acclaimed Norval Morrisseau. David is a master in his own right and is an interpreter of the inner movements, desires and contemplations of the many beings that surround us. |
