| Hakto is the “wood carrier,” a kachina borrowed from the Zuni pueblo. He is not one of the dramatic kachina figures who are highly decorated and carry weapons—but he is an old kachina and an important one. Hakto helps to ensure a supply of cottonwood, which is used not only for kachina carving but for many ceremonial and practical items. This doll stands 11 inches tall and has a topknot of parrot feathers as well as his blue wand and black-and-white yarn tassels. | ||
